Round IOW with Geoff Willis

Adrian's brother Geoff is coming with me today. I decide to do the old favourite of going round the Isle of Wight. I know it quite well now and it always impresses - and I enjoy it.

I also have a new new toy to play with - I have got some GPS navigation software MemoryMap to run on my new iPAQ PDA. This should help me navigate more easily and prevent me from getting lost or busting controlled airspace. Not going to rely on it though, so I'm still doing my PLOG and planning. It can also log the actual route that we have flown.

After the check-out, we are on our way south towards Butser Hill. As it's quite calm I let Geoff have a go and he is quite good and we share the piloting down to Hayling Island. Across to IOW and over to the Needles and then down around the south coast. Lovely.

Back over Hayling, up past Petersfield and back to Popham.

A lovely day.

The red line on the chart shows our route.
