Another Gap in the Weather

The weather . . . . . . has been very crap recently. November has been about the wettest I can remember (not that my memory is up to much these days!). Steve says the club only managed 4 flying teaching hours in the whole month. I have a flight booked for today - perhaps not ideal conditions but it is flyable, so gratefully I take the opportunity. I decide just to go for a bimble.

I was in luck, the plane was available early and still had 30 litres of fuel in it - enough for me today, as due to the weather I was only going for an hour. After checkout and warmup, I'm off on 03. I guess I'm not getting enough practice, because once again I'm totally impressed by the performance of the little planes. I head off toward Whitchurch and then follow the A34 north to Watership Down and follow the ridge to Hannington Mast. Then north again to have a look at Brimpton - I'm marginally tempted to call them for a landing there, but elect to go the other way to have a look over Greenham Common's broken up runways. Then south down the A34 (much faster with the wind) and over to Ropley Station. I follow the Watercress Line up to Four Marks. To the north there is a bank of rain, so I head back to Popham and try to beat it there. I join overhead and have a good landing.

Short, but I enjoyed it.
