Misty Lazy Eights

After last weeks lesson with Steve, I decided to try practicing the maneuvers he taught me. It's another Friday evening flight and I have left work a little early and I check-out G-HP. Once ready, I take-off on 21 and head north to the playground. Hmmm, visibility isn't too good, with an inversion layer keeping a smoggy soup all around, but otherwise no clouds. The evening sun through the smog doesn't help, making it almost impossible to see to the west.

After a clearing turn, I start with a couple of steep banked turns - to the left first and then to the right. Then I try some lazy eights. Need to watch the speed control. Then I move off to the north west and have another go - it's getting better! But to be honest, the poor visibility is rather worrying as despite clearing turns, I can't really see if someone is coming.

So lets try something else - I do an orbit around a fixed point (Hannington Mast) which goes OK. Then I head south and then decide to do a PFL - haven't done one of these for a while. A fair amount of sideslip to get into my chosen field, but it goes OK.

I guess that's enough for today and I head back and rejoin - three T+G's and a final landing (thankfully better than last week).
