More clouds
Another
quickie again today. Same old story - crap weather this year and busy with the
other plane. However, the airfield is open today and I can't miss the opportunity.
I take off on 03 and I have forgotten (yet again) how well the C-42 (with the finer pitch prop) climbs - and impressive 1200'/min, it seems to leap into the air. The sun is getting low and I head up to see the top of the clouds. These are a little higher than I had anticipated, so I stopped at a mile up at the cloud top level. I head round them and there are some lovely views.
Then
it's time to come down, and I try a a tame, controlled spiral dive to lose some
altitude. Then some more steep banked turns practice - lots of fun.
Heading back to Popham I call on the radio and ask Colin if circuits practice is allowed today. He says they are, but limited to 2 or 3 per person - sounds fair enough given how moist the airfield has been. I join downwind as there is no-one else around and do a couple of touch and go's followed by a full stop - all good.
Once again, it's a bit of keeping my hand in, like so many others with this crap weather we have been having. But I thoroughly enjoyed it.
