Compton Abbas Lady Pilots Day

Today is the annual Lady Pilots Day at Compton Abbas. Jac (being a lady pilot) wants to go and I always enjoy going there. For extra kudos, she would also like to go solo, so I have Colin coming with me for the outbound journey.

Once we are ready, we take off from runway 08 and head down to the south west. There is quite a lot of low cloud, so to the south of Bullington Cross I find a suitable hole to circle up through. Once above the cloud we cruise at about 4000' which is a lot clearer and comfortable. However as we get to the south of Alderbury the cloud gaps reduce and I decide that I will now have to drop down below them to stay VMC legal. At Compton, I join overhead for the microlight circuit and land on runway 26.

We go to book-in with the pleasant girls on the desk and then go into the cafe to order some food. It is quite busy and we go outside to find a table. It seems that someone else has had the same idea as me and turned up in drag (although I didn't get round to it) - he got a free landing! We are also treated to a aero display by a Tiger Moth.

Before we leave, Jac visits the representatives from the Lady Pilots Association. Soon we are checked over and we depart via runway 26 to then join and land on 26 at Popham.

Nice lunch and a nice day.
