Date: 3/3/2007

Time: 14:00 - 15:10 (PUT) & 15:45 - 16:30 (PUT)

Aircraft: Ikarus C42 - G-CDHR

Exercise: Ex 10b, 11, 15 & 16

I guess we're not allowed to do circuits again, so we go off to do some stalling practice. This wasn't too bad; it is over a year since we last really trained on this. We also do it in different configurations, like with or without flaps, during turns etc. which I think is more detailed than last time.

We also do some engine failure practice, I find a suitable field and do a reasonable approach to landing in it. However, I completely fail to attempt to (simulate) restart the engine. Also, with the reasonable high wind, I could have headed downwind and (probably) made it back to the airfield. All good practice.

When we head back to the airfield, I go a bit blank and I couldn't remember the correct joining procedure (not that we have done much of that and not for a long time).

Second session wasn't so good. I think that I was getting a bit tired. We did however, do some interesting exercises where Steve would take control, put the plane into a silly attitude (such as pointing straight down, or stalled or something) and then I have to recover from it!

Still, moving onwards, but I'm getting a feeling that I still have an awful lot to learn. Possibly shouldn't feel too bad about it, as it's only the second proper flight I've had since Mid November. I think that in attempt to combat tiredness, I will split my future lessons with a break in between.
