Date: 10/3/2007

Time: 14:00 - 15:00 (PUT) & 17:20 - 18:10 (PUT)

Aircraft: Ikarus C42 - G-CDRO

Exercise: Ex 12 & 13

Quite windy and sunny with lots of thermals around today.

First session we take off on 26 and it seems ever so lumpy. The thermals and turbulence seem to be knocking the aircraft around a lot. I don't know why this always seems to surprise me. I have to be more pro-active with the stick to counteract their effects as soon as they are detected. I need to put a lot more energy into the stick, than I have been doing.

There is also quite a lot of lift created in certain areas, giving a marked rise in height towards the end of the downwing leg - must get on top of this. Equally there seem to be some 'holes' in the air where the plane sinks. I find it quite challenging. We start by doing the larger GA circuit to give more time to get used to it, before attempting the shorter microlight circuit.

Second session has less thermals and so is a bit smoother. Much more practice required.
